How to Get Inspired Before a Shoot

One of the few things I hear before a session is, “I don’t really know what I want yet.” And the truth is, you don’t need to. Inspiration doesn’t show up as a finished idea. It usually starts as a feeling. A pull. A curiosity you can’t quite name yet.

You don’t need to arrive with a plan. You just need to arrive open.

✨ Notice What You’re Already Drawn To

Before your shoot, pay attention to what’s catching your eye lately. Maybe it’s the way light falls across a body in a photo, the softness of fabric, or a mood in a movie scene that stays with you. When something makes you pause or feel something in your body, that’s inspiration speaking. You don’t need to analyze it. Just notice it.

🌿 Let Inspiration Be Felt, Not Forced

You don’t have to “figure out” your shoot ahead of time. Some women bring screenshots or saved images. Others bring nothing but a feeling. Both are perfect. Inspiration isn’t about copying a pose or recreating a look. It’s about understanding the energy you want to step into and letting the session meet you there.

💫 Playfulness Changes Everything

The most powerful images happen when you stop trying to do it right. When you let yourself move, explore, and be a little curious. When you allow yourself to laugh, shift, pause, and follow what feels good instead of what you think should look good. Inspiration thrives when there’s room to play.

✨ Trust That You’re Enough to Inspire the Moment

You don’t need to bring creativity with you. You are the creativity. Your body, your story, your way of being in the world is already rich with inspiration. I guide you through the rest. You don’t need to perform or impress. You just need to show up as you are.

When you let inspiration come from inside rather than outside, your session becomes less about posing and more about presence. And that’s where the magic always is.
