Wardrobe Basics: Choosing What Feels Like You

One of the first things women ask me before a session is what they should wear. And my answer is almost always the same: wear what lets you breathe. What you choose doesn’t need to be impressive or complicated. The pieces that photograph the best are usually the ones that allow you to relax and forget about them once they’re on.

When you feel comfortable in your clothes, your body responds. Your shoulders drop. Your breath slows. Your energy shifts. That’s what I’m looking for when I’m photographing you.

✨ Comfort Is the Foundation of Confidence

I can see it immediately when something doesn’t feel right on your body. When clothing is too tight, too stiff, or something you’re constantly adjusting, it pulls you out of the moment. But when what you’re wearing moves with you, there is an ease that’s present. You stop worrying about how you look and start feeling how you exist — in the present moment. That ease is what creates the most beautiful images.

🌿 Highlight the Features You Love

Wardrobe is a chance to lean into what you already feel good about. Maybe it’s your shoulders, your back, the curve of your hips, or the way fabric drapes across your body. Lingerie can be stunning, but so can a robe, a button-down, or something familiar you already feel confident in. I’m never looking for a specific “type” of outfit. I’m looking for how you feel inside it.

💫 Consider Color and Texture

Fabric and color carry energy. Soft materials tend to invite intimacy. Lace feels delicate. Dark tones can feel grounding or powerful, while lighter shades often feel open and gentle. There’s no right or wrong choice here. I always encourage you to choose based on how you want to feel, not what you think you’re supposed to wear.

✨ Personal Touches Make It Yours

Some of my favorite moments happen when women bring something personal. Jewelry they never take off. A piece of clothing that holds meaning. Something familiar that helps them settle once we begin. These details give us more of you. And that is the whole point!

Choosing your wardrobe isn’t about impressing anyone else. It’s about showing up as yourself and letting that be enough. When what you’re wearing feels true, your presence becomes magnetic without effort.
